Lesson 1 of 1 · 4 min read

What is safe to put into AI?

Do not put personal information into an AI tool.

Personal data is anything that identifies a living person: names, emails, photos, order history tied to a name.

Usually fine

Made-up examples and anonymised drafts

General how-to questions

Public information already on your website

Do not enter

Real customer or student company names and contact details

Sensitive information such as passwords, order details or business current account details

Photos of identifiable people without consent

If you would not share the information on a poster at school/college or a trade fair, do not paste it into an AI tool.

Honesty, ownership, and the planet

Be open about your AI use

Using AI is allowed and can help your student company develop ideas. If AI helps you create something important, be ready to explain how you used it and how your team made the final decision.

AI can help, but your team chooses what to publish.

Environmental cost

AI tools use energy, so use them when they add value. For simple tasks, a quick team discussion or internet search may be enough.
